3 Cups Drawing

In this drawing, the main focus' were the 6 parts of light and value. I think that I did well on my value in this drawing. The lights and dark values gave my drawing some good contrast. I also think that compared to my past drawings the shadows or 6 parts of light worked well in this. The last thing that I really liked was my composition of the objects. It made my drawing more interesting to look at. Overall I'd say I did pretty well in the 3 hours I had to create this drawing.

This drawing was one of my favorite ones I've done in this class so far. Its my One Point Perspective drawing. This drawing requires you to make an accurate one point perspective drawing with a horizon line and one vanishing point. You also need a full range of values. My favorite part about this drawing is the booths but I didn't like how I shaded the back wall. But it was a fun drawing and I like how it turned out.

This drawing was the first assignment in Drawing 1. We picked out any 3 cups, of different sizes, we could find in the classroom. Then, we set each cup a different distance away. This assignment taught us the 4 basic rules of composition and our understanding of it. I turned my paper horizontally although the picture doesn't show that all too well. We had 30 minutes to complete this assignment. And we only used graphite pencils and erasers. I feel that for my first time really diving into composition, I didn't do too bad. I'm pretty proud of my work for just learning these 4 little rules.

Still Life Drawing

This drawing is my first self portrait. I like my eyes and hair in this drawing. I feel that my eyes looked really detailed and my hair too. We were required to have a full range of values and to use proportion correctly. I would say everything looks alright except I would change how wide my face looks. I actually have a narrow face so it doesn't look accurate. But I had fun drawing this and I think it turned out pretty well.

This is the last drawing we did in class. It is a charcoal drawing. For this, we got white and black charcoal to draw on a grey piece of paper. We also had to use a grid and reference photo. I really enjoy the dark values of the lamp post compared to the really white values of the spider web. One thing I wasn't so crazy about was the messiness of the background. But this was a super fun and challenging drawing. I think it looks good for it being the first time I've used charcoal.
