Graphic Design I

This mini project was the first in Graphic Design I. It is an Elements and Principles Graphic Organizer. The words in this organizer are going to be used numerous times this quarter. I think that this mini project was fun and pretty simple overall. My drawings make sense to me but they may not come as easily to other people. If I did this again, I would make everything more neat and organized overall. But I am still very happy with the outcome.

Right off the bat, I will say that this project was so fun! It was definitely a little challenging though. We started off by choosing our portrait pictures and printing them out. We then had to trace the basic outlines of that picture onto a white sheet of paper with sharpie. Then transfer the outline to the block and start carving. The most challenging part was deciding what I had to carve and what I didn't have to so it would look good. I think I did a pretty good job. I really love how this came out and I surprised myself with this project.

This is the Name Illustration project. I like how this turned out but I wasn't so much a fan of how I had to do it. I'm not very familiar with using technology for this type of project and it doesn't really click for me so that was an issue. But after some help and practice I got the hang of it enough to create something decent.

For this project, we had to use similar skills we used for the Portrait Printing we did previously. Instead of tracing and using a picture, we had to draw our own unique pattern onto our blocks. We also had a different material block than last time. I had fun creating this pattern and it was easier to carve out than the last one. The way that I actually printed these was more fun too because I got to print some in different directions. Just like the last print making project, I really enjoyed this!

I love this! At first I really doubted this project. I didn't think it would look very good at all. But after it was completed I absolutely loved how it turned out. I can also tell I'm getting more familiar with Adobe Illustrator which is nice. The color palette is so fun and I really love the objects I chose. Overall this was super exciting!

This is the Hand Letter Poster. The main goal is to be able to use different lettering styles to create a quote poster. My main struggle was being about to fit the pieces (words) together and make it look balanced and even. But with some help I got it to look pretty good. I really like the way this turned out and the color scheme. At first this was very stressful but I eventually got over that and just did it.

This project was super fun and easy. I completed this project faster than any other one. Despite how quickly this came to be, I think it looks really nice. I tried to keep both sides of the bee as symmetrical as possible. I didn't really play around with much color for this one though. But I still love the black and white look. There are a couple patches where there wasn't enough ink or it dried up so that doesn't look the best but I´m fine with that. This one was super fun and definitely something I´d so again.

This is the Pet Illustration project. This project looks so good in my opinion. I really love how it turned out. My main focuses for it were texture and shading. I wanted to bring out the shadows and highlights from the original picture as well as the texture of my cat's fur. I think I did pretty well at that. This did take me a long time to complete, but the outcome is something I'm very proud of.

For this project, the Concert Poster and Concert Flier, we had to pick an artist or band and design these for an upcoming concert. I didn't do this project completely the right way but I'm still happy with it. Originally, we were supposed to use images we found online and vector them and/or use text on Adobe Illistrator. You could draw out everything and add color in Adobe Illistrator if you wanted, which is what I planned to do. But I ran out of time. I was pretty stressed about not being able to do it on the computer, but I'm still happy with how it turned out.
